Inspiration #3-Tara Jarmon

I had not heard of Tara Jarmon before this morning whilst reading Lisa Armstrong's column in the Telegraph, in which she sings the praises of a printed coat made by said designer. I clicked on the link and had a little nosy at Tara Jarmon's collection and oh my the clothes are delicious. Very fresh and springy, I particularly love the shiny green dress over a more casual tee. Not to mention the super summery backgrounds, especially the palm trees. Palm trees are my new favourite thing. Say palm trees again palm trees. (Mean Girls reference obvs).

What do y'all think?

OOTD: Topman T-shirt

Top Topman
Jeans Topshop
Shirt Vintage
Sandals Primark (via a charity shop)
Watch New Look
Bag Mistella

I wore this casual outfit last week on the way to The Shard. Had I known it was gonna be the most important night of my life so far I probs would have dressed up a bit more! At least I wore a pretty dress for dinner. I am loving this baseball top at the moment, my boyfriend left it on my bed and it somehow found it's way into my wardrobe... It's the perfect top to tone down a smarter outfit, I wore it on a night out last week with a pink Topshop skirt and my mules, and it looked pretty cool if I do say so myself.

I'm also loving this watch from New Look, I like how it's not trying to be a copy of Michael Kors etc but is just it's own design. Hope everyone is having a cute week!

P.S I just wanna say thank you for everyone's sweet comments on my previous blog- every one of them is lovely  :)

I Got Engaged!

I am absolutely made up to say that last week I got engaged! It was a complete surprise and I don't think I've stopped smiling since.

It happened on Monday evening at the Shangri La hotel at The Shard in London (which by the way is incredible) whilst we were having dinner at Ting,  the hotel restaurant. My boyfriend (or should I say fiancee!) had told the staff (who were all so lovely) about his plans and they taped the ring box under the table so I wouldn't suspect anything!  I was in shock when he proposed but of course I said yes, shed a little tear and then a rainbow appeared outside which was just the cutest.

I am absolutely in love with my engagement ring-  it's based on Mary Kate Olsen's engagement ring , which is a vintage Cartier beaut. Back in January my bf enlisted his sister to find out what sort of ring I liked and one night she mentioned that MK had got engaged, we looked at the ring online and apparently I said 'that's the only engagement ring I've seen that I'd consider wearing'. So that was her job done! He had it made in Dubai which I love because it's such a thoughtful thing to do. Plus, no-one will have the same one.

It's gold with a diamond and sapphires around the edge (which, as my friend Vikki pointed out, are my birthstone)

It was slightly too big so I got it re-sized in Bristol this weekend and now it's perfect. I love it cos It's quite unusual for an engagement ring- a lot of my friends have said it's 'very me' which makes me happy. I'm so excited to plan everything- I've already got multiple Pinterest boards and bought a wedding magazine. WOO HOO!

I will stop gushing now. I hope everyone reading had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the glorious sunshine.

OOTD: Navy and Black

Crop Top Primark
Trousers Mango
Shoes Vintage
Jacket Internacionale
Hat H&M

I really can't get enough of these pinstripe trousers at the moment. They are comfy, work in casual and smart outfits and were only £10. I am quite into dressing like a man at the moment, brogues and loafers are my new best friends. Some people think you can't mix navy and black, but I say those people are stupid wrong.

Last Saturday I joined the hoards of tourists and ventured to Harrods (is it me or can you never find the escalators?), as I wanted to see the Pradasphere exhibition. The exhibition itself was actually not busy at all and I spent a pleasant hour wandering around. I would definitely recommend taking a trip if you're in London especially as it's free. Some of my highlights include these things:

90s Film Fashion

So, in case you haven't heard, the 90s are back. I grew up with 90s films, from Mrs Doubtfire and Drop Dead Fred to Honey I Shrunk the Kids! and Spiceworld and can always rely on them to make me smile.
What better way to celebrate the 90s revival than a celebration of the most stylish films from the decade. On second thoughts, perhaps not the most stylish-but they will always hold a special place in my heart!

#1 Clueless (obvs). This film was somewhat of an obsession for me in the 90s. With the resurgence of tartan, skirt/short suits and faux fur, Clueless (and especially Cher) is cited as an inspiration for many a current high street collection. Although Cher's style is banging, I'm also partial to Dionne's, particularly her penchant for a crop top and full mini skirt combo. Amber should also not be overlooked. Look at her brilliant nautical hat and blazer combo, complete with dollar sign. How 2014!

#2 Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. I bloody love this film, it's just so weird. To quote Lisa Luder 'They have nice lines. A fun, frisky use of color. All and all, I'd have to say they're really... NOT BAD!' (If you don't understand this then you must watch the film now). I'm loving their metallic dresses, matchy matchy accessories and crop tops. Not to mention their excellent 90s blow drys

#3. Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. Such an underrated film, both plotwise and fashion wise! Released in 1991, the style in this film is more of a 80s/90s mash up. The accessorizing in this film makes me too happy. The earrings! The lizard brooches! I really wanted to be Swell when I was younger, she was the coolest-if only it was that easy to land a job in fashion. I spent many an hour trying to recreate her multiple hairband ponytail in the top right pic.

Do you agree with my choices? If you haven't seen any of the above films, I strongly suggest watching them ASAP.

OOTD: Dubai #3

Top ASOS
Trousers H&M
Shoes Primark
Bag New Look

I wore this on our last night, we went to a Bloomingdale's event which my boyfriend was invited to through his work. When we arrived we had our photo taken in front of a Bloomingdale's backdrop, they were testing the lighting so were taking loads of photos of us- I felt like I was being papped! I resisted the temptation to go all Kanye on them though. After the event we went to the Dubai mall as I wanted to visit Tim Horton's-Essie from Essie Button is always singing it's praises and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I had a maple doughnut and it was darn tasty. It's interesting in Dubai because they have a mix of British and American/Canadian restaurants. So there's Nando's and Costa and then Wendy's and IHOP!

That day we also went to a Spa and had an hour long massage. It was dreamy. The spa was part of a hotel so we spent the rest of the day chilling by their pool and private beach. I got pretty burnt on my legs which was reaaallly comfortable on the 7 hour flight home. I really do never learn.

This weekend I went to a hen do in Brighton so I'm feeling pretty tired right now. It was much fun, but now my whole body aches from doing roly polys and playing off ground touch. Standard. Three cheers for bank holiday Monday.

OOTD: Dubai #2

Dress Ted Baker (sample sale)
Shoes New Look
Necklace Primark
Bag &OtherStories

From these photos I look like I did not have a nice time in Dubai. I definitely did, I just can't smile in outfit photos! Also I was probably upset due to whiteness of my legs. Apologies for the repetitiveness of shoes/necklace, but a girl can only pack so much!

When I thought of the OOTDs I would take in Dubai I imagined amazing shots in front of palm trees, beaches and the like. However, in the day times I mostly dressed super casually with no make up as it was so hot. By the time we went out in the evening it was too dark to take pics outside! Saying that, I do enjoy this background as it's so simple. So every cloud.

I got this dress for only £7 in the sample sale at work. I think it's really pretty and I love the floaty-ness of it. the quality is also great and it's fully lined so doesn't go see-through like some light dresses. A bargain!
