OOTD: V&A Museum

Coat New Look
Jumper Jumble Sale
Skirt Primark
Boots River Island
Bag Cambridge Satchel Company
Necklace New Look

This olive jumper with pearl buttons has been festering in my wardrobe for ages and I've only worn it about once so I thought I would give it an airing. I love the colour but the short sleeves not so much. Still it was ever so cheap so never mind!

Me and boyfriend went to the V&A museum this afternoon to meet up with some friends.
I had a very tasty roasted vegetable and feta sandwich with chickpea/red cabbage salads on the side. We looked around the museum for a bit after, I love the V&A because it's so grand, even the lights are so pretty:

In other news, I have given up chocolate for lent, which isn't going too badly. The hardest test was last weekend when we went to an engagement dinner and one of the dessert options was a chocolate cake topped with M&Ms (my faves!) and surrounded by chocolate fingers...I had carrot cake instead but it was not the same.

Roll on Easter!

Nail Varnish Collection: Barry M

Third in my nail collection series is Barry M. I think Barry M polishes are one of the first brands I ever bought back when I was first getting into doing my nails. They are cheap as chips (2.99 for the basic nail paints/glitters) but great quality and the colour range is amazing- to be honest I don't know why I haven't got more!

Anyway, here are the ones I do have:

Clockwise from silver (some have names some are so old they only have numbers!): 288, Blueberry Ice Cream, Mint Green, Acid Yellow, Lemon Ice Cream, 134, Coral, Peach Melba, Strawberry Ice Cream, Boots Limited Edition and Bright Purple.

They are all really easy to apply and I'd say you need 2-3 coats to get proper opaque coverage. The only one of the above with a poor consistency is Acid Yellow, for some reason it's gone really gloopy and takes about 5 coats to look like the colour above. It's a shame because I love the shade, especially on tanned hands as it really pops. Maybe I just got a dud one, or left the cap off or something.

These 4 shades are my favourites:

I would highly recommend Barry M, and I'm definitely going to branch out and get some more shades, especially as they've got lots of glitters and have introduced new ideas like the Gelly and Textured polishes.

As we're on the subject of nails I thought I would post some nail arts I have been sporting  recently:

I love nail art and I think I'm getting better with practice- I just need to make sure I'm extra careful as some of the edges are messy!

Style Icons: Miroslava Duma

Miroslava Duma first came to my attention about 5 years ago, when I ripped a picture out of Grazia-she was wearing a black dress with a brown knotted belt. I cannot find the picture anywhere on the internet but I remember it was stuck up on my mirror for a good 2 years. Back then I had no idea who she was. Now of course she is the darling of street style-you can't move during fashion week without seeing her face!

She is one of my favourites as I love how she can take the 'it' item of the season and make it her own (see: Balenciaga space jumper). I appreciate her love of huge statement necklaces and her vast collection of platforms. Things that I never thought would look good she makes covetable (see: brown leather dungarees) and she can really work a print!

She is quite the style chameleon, she doesn't tend to have a failsafe 'look' and stick to it. For this reason I have organised some of my favourite Miroslava looks into categories for your viewing pleasure.

Clean and Simple

I think Miroslava is such a style icon because she's always so confident in her own choices- it's a cliché but she really does wear the clothes rather than let the clothes wear her.

OOTD: Black on black

Coat New Look
Top Jumble Sale
Jeans Topshop
Scarf Jumble Sale
Trainers Zara
Necklace H&M
Rings H&M/New Look

A very black outfit to mourn the amount of hair I had cut off yesterday which I am none too pleased about, hence my head being absent from the photo. People have been complimentary, maybe I will grow to love it but at the moment it makes me sad. Oh well it's only hair!

These high tops are my new loves, they were £59.99 which I know is on the pricey side, but I bought them with my Christmas money so they were basically free! I have wanted some for aaaaages but they always have silver studs/too many studs/weird pointy toes which I do not care for.

After aforementioned hair-gate, I went shopping in Cheapside (St Pauls) as I was in the area. Top tip- If you live in London and hate how crowded shopping areas get on the weekend I would recommend going there- it's not busy at all as it's predominantly for city workers who don't work at the weekend. Of course it doesn't have as many shops as Oxford Street or Westfield but it has Topshop, H&M (a really good one) and River Island which is fine for a quick browse.

I ended up getting these two items from Topshop (please excuse the smudgy carpet):

I've wanted some skinny ripped jeans for ages and these fit so well, as I find with a lot of Topshop jeans. I've also got a lack of nice casual tops in my wardrobe so this ticks that box.

Due to lack of funds this month ( I have to get my passport renewed-why is it so expensive?!?) I may try and find a cheaper alternative to the jeans, I've seen some on the New Look website. I've yet to try them on though so we shall see!

Hope everyone had a smashing weekend, I've off to tend to my butternut squash and sage soup.

Looks Loved: January

Hearting these people:

This is Mariann who has a really cute blog. She always look so put together and she's super pretty! I love the mix between casual khaki and gold sequins.

Cara Delevigne looking so cool it makes me hurt in Jonathon Saunders. And she knows it, as I totally would if I was her. I love this outfit because that dress would be so easy to style with sky high heels and an up do but instead she mixes it up with the casual boots and scruffy hair. Unique. And I LOVE the colours in the dress.

Such a cute winter ensemble from Silvia. My favourite parts are the chunky socks poking over the boots.

Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan at the Golden Globes was definitely my best dressed of the night- that colour is just luscious! Love her hair and make up too.

Rose Byrne is fast becoming one of my best dressed celebrities as she always looks so fresh but not ridiculous.I am getting a bit obsessed with matching things (I want a short suit so bad) and this cute yet sophisticated Miu Miu two piece nails the trend. Love the co-ordinating navy accesssories and, as usual, her hair and make up is flawless.

Last but DEFINITELY not least is Rihanna- in my eyes, this outfit is perfection. The hair, the white shirt, the jacket (THE JACKET), the skirt, the sandals, the red lip, the necklace. Yeah everything. LOVE. (sorry for all the capitals)
