OOTD: Maxi skirt

Jacket Primark
Body New Look
Maxi skirt TK Maxx
Sandals H&M
Belt Swapped with my best friend's brother
Bag Vintage
Sunglasses River Island

This is what I wore for an afternoon stroll through sunny Holland Park yesterday. It's the first time I have ever worn a maxi and I thought I might look a bit like a buxom wench from Tudor times but my friend assured me that I didn't, hurrah!

Me and my boyfriend sat in the park and read the Guardian, and basically felt very middle class, especially as there were a group of 'yummy mummies' behind us having a right old knees up.

We also had a peek round Westfield as I wanted to get a watch, I found one in the end but it's at the watch shop having links taken out so I will post a photo at a later date. I also picked up the Bourjois magic nail polish remover, which actually does take about 1 second, I am well impressed.

Thought I would also post a pic of what my boyfriend wore yesterday as I think he looked cute. Simple, but I really like the navy and burgundy together.

Anyway it's time for toast now. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :)

What to wear, what to wear?!?

I'm in Bristol this weekend for my friend's birthday, she is having a house party type gathering, but still getting a bit dressed up. Which is quite a hard dress code, especially when having to plan ahead. So I've leaned towards the dressier side, especially as I think she will want to end up going out. She's fickle like that, as I believe I've mentioned before, much to her astonishment. Haha.

So, these are the 4 outfit options I have packed:

Crop Top: Topshop
Skirt: Topshop Boutique (needs an iron)
Heels: New Look
Bag: Vintage
Nail Polish: Model's Own 'Emerald City'
Body: Primark
Rest of Outfit: As above

Disco Pants: American Apparel
Rest of outfit: As Above

Top: Primark
Necklace: River Island
Nail Varnish: Model's Own 'Bubblegum'

At the mo I'm thinking the disco pants with one of the two tops, and these are the more dressy/casual outfits of the 4. The gold skirt is one of my favourite things, but it's REALLY poofy so maybe not too appropriate for just a house party. Such a dilemma!

Anyway, I'm going to go sit outside and make the most of the nice weather :)

Recent Manicures

Painting my nails is my favourite. Here are some of my most recent manicures.

From left-right, top-bottom:

  1. Model's Own, 'Indian Ocean', part of the 'Beetlejuice' range. This nail polish makes me feel like a mermaid. However It is really sheer, and takes about 5 coats to look this opaque, and you can still slightly see through it.
  2. Missguided 'MissTaken Orange' with Model's Own 'Goldfinger', 'Nude Beige' and the Nail Art Pen in Black. I got the orange polish free with this month's Cosmopolitan. It went on nicely and only required 2 coats to make it opaque. Nice juicy orange colour too.
  3. Barry M 'Peach Melba' with Model's Own 'Goldfinger'. I like this effect a lot and it's really easy, just paint the top of the nail with the glitter and then use a cotton bud to drag down the nail.
  4. Barry M 'Yellow' with a rust colour from Urban Outfitters which they no longer sell and Model's Own back Nail Art Pen. I wanted to do a more classic leopard print with the colours of an actual leopard but it looks more like a giraffe haha. I still enjoy the outcome though.
  5. Primark Coral, which again I don't think they stock anymore with Topshop 'Journalist' accent nail. Love this combo.
  6. I can't even recall which polishes I used for this but I like that they look fresh and minty.
  7. Model's Own 'Pink Fizz' over a Model's Own pink which they no longer sell. This was the first time I did a half moon manicure and I liked it.
  8. American Apparel colour which I cannot find, with black dots and cat transfers from EBay. Unfortunately I forgot to put a top coat on so I washed the cat down the sink haha.
  9. Model's Own 'Black Magic', 'Snow White' and Barry M 'Grey', with Model's Own black Nail Art Pen. This was a tutorial from www.quitepolished.blogspot.co.uk. So simple but it looks amazing!

DIY: Studded Backpack

So, I bought this little backpack from a charity shop in Bath for £4, and as soon as I saw it I knew it was screaming out to be studded! I bought 2 packs of studs from ebay for £2.76 for 20 and got to work.

Here it is before...

And after...

It was difficult to make it look nice in the after photo because straight on you can't really see the studs which is sad, but I'm really pleased with the outcome.

Wearing a backpack just makes me feel cute!

I want to do loads more DIYs, as I've got so much inspiration for them at the moment but not enough time to do them all. Also, I wish they sold studs in shops, getting them off of Ebay is well cheap but bloody inconvenient when they take about a month to arrive, I'm still waiting on some nail wheels. Grr.

They should get some sort of concession in Topshop where they sell studs and dye and stuff to DIY. Or they should provide a studding/dyeing etc service. Honestly, why did I ever leave Topshop, they clearly need me! Haha.

Well I'm off to dry my hair.

:)

What's in my bag?

I love reading/watching these type of posts, so I thought I would do one of my own.

Bag: Romwe (about £40)

This bag was very popular amongst bloggers a while back, and I jumped on the bandwagon and bought it. I'm much more of a shoe person than a bag person, but when I see a bag I love I REALLY love it. So many people compliment me on this bag and ask me where I got it from, inevitably leading to '...where?' and blank faces when I tell them it's from Romwe!

What's inside...

Top (L-R)

  • Emergency rings (these vary from week to week), I like to keep some spare rings in my bag just in case (shock horror) I forget to put about 5 on in the morning.
  • Plastic forks/spoons Wow how interesting. However, an essential item. Whenever I'm in M&S I pick up a handful
  • Work keys with Eiffel Tower keyring from Paris :)
  • Miss Sporty glossy top coat
  • Hippo notebook
  • Primark umbrella
  • Heat (favourite magazine in the world)
Middle (L-R)

  • Frassy "Chanel" nail decals from Frassy Rags (she no longer sells them tho)
  • House keys complete with Chanel key ring from a Grazia subscriber event
  • Various pens and pencils
  • Lollipop for emergency sugar attacks
  • Primark hair grips I think they're pretty shite
  • Bottle of water
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Paracetomol
  • i pod complete with embarassing 'comedy' fly earphonesmy housemate gave me when I broke my apple ones. Kinda embarassing when on the tube, but they were free so can't complain.
Bottom (L-R)

  • Purse really boring one at that. I am fussy about purses though because I like them to have enough room for lots of cards, space for cash and the clear bit for photos. I may stud this purse.
  • Primark nail varnish remover pads Come in v handy.
  • Various hairbands I cannot eat with my hair down.
  • Oyster card holder featuring Lego Harry Potter
  • Nail file
  • Burts Bees lip balm If this isn't within reach I feel very uncomfortable
  • Primark/River Island sunglasses
I'm not sure what this says about me...probably that I am obsessed with nails. Which is definitely true!
