Vintage Fair

On Saturday I went to a vintage fair in Bristol with my mum. It was held in the M Shed, which is a new museum on the harbourside. This is what I wore: (definitely not vintage!)

Jumper: Topshop
Leggings: New Look
Flatforms: H&M
Bag: Romwe
Necklace: River Island

Living in London where vintage is everywhere, I don't get as excited as I used to by vintage clothes, but I did manage to pick up this brooch (which my mum got down to £5 from £7, she loves a haggle).

I've been looking for a leopard brooch for a while, I think I'm gonna pin it either on a shirt pocket or a plain clutch.

There were some other cute bits that caught my eye, but in the end I decided against them:

Love the colour and detail of this shirt but it was just too big for me :( I'm definitely gonna try putting a pearl necklace underneath a collar though, I think it looks so cute!

This little tartan top caught my eye, I tried it on and it did look cute, but I felt it was slightly too Christmassy.

This dress is so pretty, it reminded me of something by Elie Saab. It's not the sort of thing you can just casually throw on though, and sadly I'm not gonna be walking any red carpets soon.

Love these scrabble rings, I have bought 3 already from Dolly Bow Bow, and lost every one. Because these were vintage though they were slightly yellowing, and I prefer the newer ones.

Review: Beauty UK Posh Polish

'Silmaril' (which is the name of a gemstone-I just googled it cos I had no idea!) is one of the nail polishes by Beauty UK included in the Schwarzkopf goody bag the other night.

It is a subtle champagne-y/gold type colour with a shimmer to it. The application was really smooth, it did look nice with 2 coats but I did 3 just to make it slightly more opaque. The above photo was taken in bright sunlight so looks slightly lighter than indoors, where it is more true to the colour in the bottle.

The colour is part of the 'Gemstone' collection of Posh Polish by Beauty UK. It retails on their website for £3.49, which I think is a pretty reasonable price. I've only had it on for two days but so far it hasn't chipped at all.

Overall I would recommend this nail polish, and I'm looking forward to trying the other colours that were in the goody bag.

Schwarzkopf Shake 'n' Straight event

Last night my boyfriend and I went along to the Schwarzkopf Shake 'n' Straight event, in celebration of the both the 'Play It Straight' straightening kit and the 'Live Colour XXL Shake it Up' foam, in Circus, Covent Garden. I was super excited to go, and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed when we were greeted at the door by one of the PRs sporting an amazing spiked pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas!

As you may guess, the party had a Circus theme, with acrobats, jugglers, magicians and a even a man who appeared to swallow a whole balloon keeping us entertained in between free hair treatments and manicures.

The hair stylist curled my hair before adding some of the Got2be volumizing styling powder, which was so good and made my hair look massive (I forgot to take a pic :( )! I'm definitely going to be investing in some ASAP.

I decided to go for magnetise on my nails, as I've never tried it before, tbh I haven't loved it when I've seen it on other people but in this gunmetal colour I thought it was quite nice. I'm pretty sure the nail polish is the The Saturday's magnetism nail lacquer by Fashionista:Frankie (sorry for the blurry picture).

They had the cutttesssst pic and mix stand full of beauty stuff for the goody bags, and it even had actual pic and mix sweets in the bottom!

Classy toilet picture of my outfit! This was the second outing for my flatforms and I'm pleased to announce that they hurt slightly less. Yay!

I managed to pick up some goodies before going home (full of delicious cocktails!) which I will definitely be trying and reviewing. The organisers did an amazing job and I had such a fun night!

Keep or Return: Pleated skirts

After going shopping for my uniform, I had a little nosey in the surrounding shops. I went in New Look, and they had these mid length pleated skirts. I fell a little bit in love with them, and as they were only £20 (neon) and £25 (polka dot), I got them both on a whim. I put them on my New Look card as I know I am going to return at least one, but I just don't know which one to keep. The neon coral one is such a vibrant colour which I really love but I feel it might look dated quite quickly, whereas the polka dot one will probably go with more tops and last into AW12 but is a bit more boring. I can't decide...

Topshop Uniform

One of the bonuses of working in Topshop means that 4 times a year, I can 6 pieces of uniform at a discounted price. So far I have bought 4 things...

Close up...

I'm really pleased with all the pieces I've got so far, especially the mint green skirt, it's the cutest thing ever!

I find it quite hard to find things to get for uniform which sounds really stupid because I've got the whole of Topshop to choose from, but a lot of times in the past I have ended up buying things on impulse which I have either worn only a couple of times or not at all. I also picked up one of these cropped t shirts to wear with the green skirt and other high waisted bottoms, I love that combo at the moment.

I've still got 2 bits left to get, exciting!

What I bought: Flatforms

I saw a girl wearing these shoes at Victoria train station, I wanted to ask her where they were from but she was running for a train in the distance so I couldn't. About two weeks later, I spied the very same ones (I think anyway) in H&M and they were only £24.99. What a barg.

I wore them today but they hurt a LOT, I had to swap them half way through the day with my trusty Vectras. As I had my panther trousers on which are, as Topshop puts it, 'formal joggers', it was a bit like I was wearing pyjamas. So that was fun.

I am gonna attempt them again, but with a tight this time.
